“Overseas admissions information should be perfectly available to all ambitious students, regardless of their background.”

HCO aims to provide assistance and opportunities to enhance th e admission rate of the deprived students. By encouraging and facilitating cooperation amongst the various organisations, such as schools, government departments and non governmental organisations (NGOs) to enhance resource allocation and promote multi-thinking, thereby further benefiting the students. We believe creating a fair environment in a positive attitude, mutual support is essential.

Word from the Co-founder

Kevin Yuen

Co-founder and Director of Helios Community Outreach (HCO)

I graduated from BSc Economics at University College London with first class honours and full-ride scholarships. While I was studying at Queen’s College, I received offers from London School of Economics and Political Science, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, University of Chicago and UC Berkeley. I understand the importance of tertiary education to the students.

Over the years, I have led 150+ students to G5 universities in the UK, top 25 colleges in the US and other top-tier universities across the globe for a wide variety of desired majors.

I hope I can share my experience with the students in different aspects, from admission procedure, interview information and strategy planning of all prestigious universities and courses, to get partial or full-ride scholarships from the HKSAR government, universities and private organisations. Therefore, I can be a unique “consultant” of the students, enhance the leadership qualities and entrepreneurial mindset of the students. Finally, a fair environment can be created.

Co-founder and Director of Helios Community Outreach (HCO)

I graduated from City University of Hong Kong. From my past experience of answering more than thousands enquiries of foreign tertiary studies, I fully understand how struggling the students and their families are. As they do not have sufficient information to analyse their condition, it will be a waste of time and money.

We organise many seminars and workshops with different professionals, so as to widen the students’ horizon. We hope to be their “mentor” to teach them how they to equip themselves, developing their interpersonal skills, programme organising skills and empathy to the needy. Hence, we cooperate with different NGOs to create more opportunities for the students to serve the society.

The Advisory Committee meets regularly to approve grant applications and review Foundation policies.

We have connected with different local and international schools in Hong Kong for providing free seminars on universities and scholarships information. Also, we cooperate with other NGOs to organise meaningful events to the needy. HCO believes that it is the most effective way to contribute to the society.
